The Four Elements Of Analog cdr

The concept behind this album was to have four engineering friends with analog equipment and tendencies to record four songs each. Each engineer was given one of the four physical elements and asked to try and do their magic in such a way as to embody that element. The songs they recorded were selected to be the most fitting, lyrically and musically, for the element they were given. The album was recorded in July and August, 2002. Dave Matthies (the gift machine) recorded the Water tracks at his Ink River Studio. Rich Canut (Language Arts, Goldstar) and Labrynt McLaughlin (Goldstar) recorded the Earth tracks at their Lab Partner Studio. Doug Krebs (Lago Volunteers, Break Off!) recorded the Wind tracks at his Dig Recordings Studio. Sean McKee (The Narrows) and Jon McIntyre recorded the Fire tracks in the basement of the F Street house on the old Yo-Yo Studios board that Justin McIntyre (The Narrows) owns. Most of these people also played instruments on their songs to help try and "embody" the element they had. ALL the money paid for copies of this album goes to the International Solidarity Movement.

Clamdust is James. James used to play in Language Arts, Bellingham's staple pop band of the last five years. This album is 16 tracks of four-tracked material that James wrote and recorded over the last 4-5 years. Mostly acoustic songs, they are filled out with all the lovely toys and harmonies that make modern indie pop just so sweet and delicious. Which isn't to say the album is all apple orchards and glee. James has a knack for the darker heartfelt, and it bleeds through. James is currently working on a new project called The Daffidils and is based in PDX, though a return to Bellingham is rumoured.
